Why School Representation Matters on the Christian Neighbors Board

Christian Neighbors serves families across the Plainwell, Otsego, and Martin school districts – communities where children, parents, and educators see firsthand the challenges that can impact a family’s stability. That is why we believe it is essential to have school leadership represented on our Board of Directors. We are proud to have Matt Montange of Plainwell Schools, Christie Robinson of Otsego Schools, and Samantha Ball of Martin Schools as board members.
These Superintendents are uniquely positioned to understand the needs of families beyond the classroom. They see how food insecurity, housing instability, and financial stress affect students’ ability to learn, grow, and thrive. Their insight helps Christian Neighbors respond not just to immediate needs, but to the broader circumstances families are facing every day.
Having representation from all three school districts ensures our programs and decisions reflect the realities of the communities we serve. Their perspectives help strengthen collaboration between schools and Christian Neighbors, allowing us to better connect families with food, emergency financial assistance, education, and other resources that support long-term stability for students and their families.
By working alongside school leaders, Christian Neighbors reinforces a shared commitment: when families are supported, students are better equipped to succeed, and the entire community grows stronger. School representation on our board helps us stay informed, responsive, and focus on the second half of our mission which is to help create stability in their lives of those we help.
Thank you to these three board members and all of our board members who volunteer their time, knowledge and skills for the betterment of our agency and ministry.
