Tax-Smart Ways to Give and Support Christian Neighbors

Because every person’s financial situation is unique, we encourage you to talk with your financial advisor before making a gift. There are several ways to maximize your tax savings while helping neighbors in need. We’re happy to meet with you and your advisor to discuss the best way to support our mission and programs.

💙 Give from Your IRA with a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD)

If you are age 73 or older, you may be eligible to make a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) directly from your IRA to Christian Neighbors. This allows you to support your community while reducing your taxable income.

Each year, individuals with traditional IRAs must take Required Minimum Distributions (RMDs), which are generally taxed as income. A QCD lets you direct up to $108,000 (in 2025) from your IRA directly to Christian Neighbors. Your gift can satisfy your RMD and avoid income tax on the donated amount, your contribution stays entirely local. It’s a meaningful way to reduce your tax burden while helping neighbors in need.

Important: To qualify, the transfer must go directly from your IRA custodian to Christian Neighbors SE. If you withdraw the funds first, the amount becomes taxable.

💙 Other Smart Ways to Give

Appreciated Stocks or Securities

Donating appreciated stocks, bonds, or mutual funds can help you avoid capital gains taxes while receiving a charitable deduction for the fair-market value of your gift.

Donor-Advised Funds (DAFs)

If you already have a DAF, you can recommend a grant directly to Christian Neighbors SE. DAFs are ideal for larger gifts, multi-year pledges, or year-end giving. (Note: DAFs cannot be used for QCDs.)

Legacy or Estate Gifts

Create a lasting impact by including Christian Neighbors SE in your will or trust, or by naming us as a beneficiary of your retirement account or life-insurance policy. You can also explore establishing a charitable remainder trust to provide for loved ones and your community.
