Free Tax Assistance
Christian Neighbors is a VITA Tax site through United Way. Those who make under $65,000 a year qualify to have their federal and state taxes done for free by an IRS-certified volunteer. This service is available February through April.
Expungement Clinic
Each year in August, Christian Neighbors hosts a free expungement clinic. This is an opportunity to have your criminal record cleared for free. Once the date is set for 2026, we will provide a link to pre-register for the event.
“I did something really stupid at 19 years old, and it is still haunting me now that I’m in my 30’s. I currently work at a job that is below my experience level because of this one mistake on my record. Getting my record cleared will help me to provide better for my family and to boost my self-confidence when seeking higher employment. I couldn’t afford to do the expungement process on my own. This free expungement clinic is the answer to my prayers.”
Mobile Secretary of State
Once a quarter, the mobile secretary of state sets up at Christian Neighbors. Click here to make an appointment for an upcoming date.
Veteran Appreciation Luncheon
Each summer we host a free veteran appreciation luncheon in our event space. There is a yummy lunch, door prizes, and socializing with other local veterans. This is open to any veteran in the community and is just our way of saying thank you for your service. The date for 2026 will be announced soon!

Back to School Celebration
In August we hold an event to celebrate back to school! The event offers fun activities for the whole family and free backpacks for the kids. The date for 2026 will be announced soon! We hope to expand next year’s event and offer free haircuts. If you are interested in offering your services to make this happen, please email Kim here or call 269-685-4166 ext. 102.
Poverty Simulation
Christian Neighbors is a certified facilitator for Poverty Simulations. Poverty Simulation is a hands-on experience where participants in the activity simulate what it is like to live in poverty for a month. This is a great experience for those who work in any type of service field. We have done simulations for professional development for school districts, hospitals, service organizations and elected officials. If you are interested in learning more about how a poverty simulation works or having us facilitate one for your employees and/or volunteers, please email Kim here or call 269-685-4166 ext. 102.
